Appleton Sunrise

Appleton Sunrise
11x14, acrylics on canvas
NOT FOR SALE

Same scene, different time of year. I kept thinking about what that tree would look like silhouetted against a blood-red sky. Here's the answer. The trees, the fields, the road, the telephone poles are real. The sunrise is from my imagination.

Great companion to your last painting. This one looks like a late October sunrise, and the previous one looks like a rainy (barely misting) cool April morning.

Love the streaks of orange on the road.

Thanks, Debra. Wish I could get a better photo. I listed this at Etsy, then moved it over to eBay, then back to Etsy, and nobody will touch it with a ten-foot pole. I think it's one of those paintings you need to see to really appreciate. The camera makes the color look like a very harsh orange, but in real life it's a much softer, richer color. No matter what lighting conditions I've used, I just can't get the camera to accurately show that color. Maybe I should send this one to the small gallery/shop I just put a few things in. It might well better there. On the other hand, I'm quite fond of it, so I might just end up keeping it myself.

Um...it might DO better there. Not, it might "well" better there. Geez. I guess I haven't had enough caffeine yet this morning!
